What's So Great About a Phuket Holiday?

You've probably heard of Phuket. It's an island in southern Thailand. It's one of Thailand's most popular tourist destinations, but you may be wondering what's so great about Phuket. A Phuket holiday is definitely something you won't forget in a hurry. With a bit of forward planning, there's no reason why a vacation in Phuket can't be a fantastic experience.

The first thing to think about when considering Phuket for a vacation is where you are going to base yourself. Without wanting to take anything away from the area, far too many travelers arrive in Phuket, head straight to Patong and then decide that they hate the whole island. Reality check, folks - Patong is not the whole of Phuket. The island is huge and has a packages for WiFi @ Home with Streamyx Combo to offer if only you'll ignore the tourist brochures.

Patong is a great place to base yourself if you want to be in the center of the nightlife district. Otherwise, book your hotel elsewhere. A good place to start would be Kata, or perhaps Karon. The beaches are more appealing than in Patong and there are less people clogging up the streets.

No visit to Phuket would be complete without spending a little time in Phuket Town. The colonial buildings are enough to win most people over. For some, it's the sleepy atmosphere of the area that does it. You can't help but fall in love with the place.

While enjoying your time in Phuket, you're going to want to sample some of the restaurants the island has to offer. If you're into food - and let's face it, who isn't? - Phuket will be like a playground. Streamyx Activation sure to check out Natural restaurant in Phuket Town. BYD Lofts in Patong is another hotspot. If you like your sushi, the Oishi buffet on the bypass road just outside of Phuket Town is all-you-cant-eat.

Nightlife plays a part in most people's Phuket holidays. Club Lime in Patong has been a steady source of fun, but its crown may be lost to venues such as Icon in Nai Harn and Baba Dining Lounge in Cape Panwa. Phuket has attracted a decent range of international DJs in the past couple of years - and there are more to come.

You could never say that Phuket is boring. There are temples galore, there's a Big Buddha statues and there's even an aquarium. Phuket is cheap, it's accessible and it's fun.

The biggest draw of Phuket is, obviously, the beaches - and Phuket has them in abundance. If you ask the locals, they'll tell you to avoid Patong and head to the beaches in places such as Mai Khao, Nai Yang and Kata.
